Museum of Tolerance

(28 Ratings)
Teaching tolerance
The world renowned and gay-inclusive Museum of Tolerance has created a space that does much more than honor and teach visitors about the Holocaust. The museum is a classroom of tolerance, social justice, peace and conflict resolution that crosses boundaries to include oppression of any class of people, a space considered by many to be one of the country's most important cultural exhibitions.

Do not miss this museum!

Having suffered the pain and rejection of prejudice and intolerance every gay person owes it to themselves to visit this museum that is dedicated to the furtherance of tolerance. One feature I found very effective was at the beginning of the tour you are given a picture of a man, woman or child to carry with you as you tour the museum. As you visit the exhibits you will find fascinating tidbits about the person assigned to you. At the end of the tour you find out if the person you have come to know made it through the Holocaust alive or not. It is a very powerfully emotional moment. If you live in or are visiting the LA area you will not want to miss this site.

A great LA treasure

Took my family a couple years ago and they were as impressed as I was. Have to say coming from a military family and being brought up to accept everyone and yet being from NC and seeing outward racism, coming to this museum brought back some of the things I witnessed as a child. This museum hopefully helps people to understand how racism in any form is wrong.

Another "MUST SEE" for tourists!

Although this is a Jewish Museum, there are sections for Afro-Americans as well as for gays and lesbians. Very emotional to see but a "must see"
