“WEST SIDE STORY”
The quintessential Broadway musical favorite, West Side Story. Inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the story is set in New York City's Upper West Side during the 1950s, and explores the rivalry between two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. Playing out at the center of the rivalry is the ill-fated romance between the lovely and idealistic Maria and the earnest yet street-wise Tony. Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's memorable score includes such hits as "Something's Coming," "Maria," "America," "Somewhere," "Tonight," "I Feel Pretty," "One Hand, One Heart," and "Cool." The original Broadway production won a Tony in 1957 for its outstanding choreography.
