Over the last six years Making Shapes has established itself as a mainstay for the Los Angeles clubbing circuit. Joining the dots between house and techno, lead by residents Jeniluv and Sonns. They’ve crafted a party that’s known for bringing some of the most forward thinking electronic acts to LA for the very first time along with established pioneers of the genre. February 7th is no different as Magda and Catz ‘n Dogz make a welcome return to the city for an intimate affair at the 613 warehouse.
Raised in Detroit, Magda has firmly proven herself as one of techno’s brightest talents. Joining Richie Hawtin’s Minus at it’s inception in 1998, she forged a long standing working relationship and quickly established herself as Richie’s sole opening DJ on all of his worldwide shows. In 2011 she departed ways and set up Item’s and Things with fellow former Minus label mates, Troy Pierce and Marc Houle. Since then the label has been a constant stream of eclectic dancefloor savvy releases from the label owners themselves, along with Miss Kittin, Rework, Click Box, dubspeeka and Chloe to name a few.
Next up, Poland’s Catz ‘n Dogz make their Making Shapes debut. Head honchos at their own imprint, Petz Recordngs. This prolific duo have also released records on Pokerflat, Dirtybird, Crosstown Rebels and Turbo as well as compiling a mix for the legendary Body Language series. Known for their vibrant bass heavy take on house and techno, their infamous approach to DJing has earned them highly coveted residencies at Berin’s Watergate and Sankey’s Ibiza, as well as taking their Petz Recording showcases to the BPM festival, Sonar and Miami’s WMC.
This fierce line up of talent is wrapped up with residents Jeniluv and Sonns overseeing procedures in true Making Shapes style.
