A Mighty Voice, on March 26 and 27, is unlike anything GMCLA has produced in the last several years. Our guest artistic director - renowned, rising composer and conductor Cristian Grases - has programmed a history of male choral music of the last several centuries, from Gregorian chants to 21st century compositions.
The performance will include: Operatic selections from Franz Schuberts haunting Nachthelle and Carl Orffs rousing In Taberna Quando Sumus from Carmina Burana, Felix Medelsssohns majestic Festival Ode to Artists, Contemporary Latin American love songs Amor de mi Alma and Te Quiero, works by contemporary choral composers Randol Alan Bass (Gloria) and Joel Martinson (Everyone Sang), and Grases own Sensemaya.
The venue is the intimate Los Angeles Theater Center. Its in the heart of Downtown, convenient to restaurants, art galleries and a growing nightlife scene.
