ROUTE INFO:
Greetings! AF3IRM and the Ovarian Psycos have been very purposeful (and political!) about the March 8th rally route. Here are our route and rally targets:
MEETING POINT: LA CITY HALL - we will meet here at 12 noon and hear from low-wage women workers and women resisting gentrification in the city of LA
STOP #1: LAPD HEADQUARTERS - we will highlight the issue of police brutality, especially against black women and girls.
STOP #2: FEDERAL BUILDING - we will highlight the US's role in the occupation, state-sponsored rape, and genocide occurring in Palestine.
STOP #3: DETENTION CENTER - we will highlight im/migrant women's rights and struggles, including deportation, family separation, raids, and reproductive justice
END RALLY/PROGRAM: MARIACHI PLAZA - we will celebrate women's resistance with speakers and performers from all different women's communities, struggles, collectives.
***We invite all organizations to leave any petitions, protest art, etc at the rally stops for your own respective campaigns and actions. Be creative, we have purposefully chosen rally targets/stops that affect many of our communities!
*** We have not posted exact times to each stop except for the first meeting point because we are unsure of how many people will be physically able to complete the rally; we will go slowly if necessary, as we are not planning on leaving anyone behind. There will be chairs and the beginning and end rallies for those who cannot stand.

Join the AF3IRM and Ovarian Psyco-Cycles March and Rally in commemoration of International Working Women's Day in Downtown LA on Sunday, March 8th!
We are taking action because we have no other choice- women, particularly women of color, are being systematically obliterated due to patriarchy, white supremacy, transmisogyny, imperialism, and other intersecting systems of oppression, which harms the holistic health of people and our mother earth in the process. AF3IRM calls this the “genocide of womankind," occurring here and across/despite borders:
- There are 64,000 missing Black women and counting in the U.S.
- In Iraq, hundreds of girls and women, some as young as 9 and some in their 70s, have been arrested, abused, raped and tortured by U.S.-trained Iraqi police.
- Palestinian women are targeted and systematically raped by Zionists to obliterate their entire population.
- In Canada, there are at least 1,200 missing or murdered aboriginal women.
- From 2010-2014 at least 2,250 women were killed in El Salvador, while in Honduras, at least 4,000 women have been murdered since 2002, all because of their gender
- There are 2.5 million trafficked persons globally at any given time with Asian and Pacific Islander women being the largest group trafficked in the United States.
The women are shutting down Los Angeles because we refuse to continue to be killed off.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
The more who join, the louder our message - that we women and our allies will take action until all forms of violence against women are eliminated, until there is an end to the genocide of womankind, and until we are truly liberated!!
The march and rally is led by women-identified, feminists of color, and open to ALL who are willing to defend women and our communities, voice support for women’s struggles, and honor the legacies and herstories of women who have come before us.

(((Disclaimer: As a response to the conversations about gender inclusive language for March 8th, we are in the process of choosing words and language that is inclusive of all identities, except cisgender men. We want to be transparent about the challenges and growth of our collective - we understand this process goes beyond words and language and is more about transforming our space. Please note, for this specific statement we will be temporarily be using the word “womyn”.
As Ovarian Psycos, we have recently been made aware of the past hxstory of the word “womyn” and “womyn-born-womyn” as defined by the white bourgeois and liberal feminists of Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival in 1976. As cisgender people, it was a definite mistake on our part and a reflection of our privilege to have been uneducated of the repressive hxstory it is identified with. We understand that our ignorance in choosing this word is exclusive, offensive and triggering. Our collective has used "womyn" as opposed to "woman" to denote our focus on the healing and growth of womyn of color, regardless of a hegemony of gender binary anatomies, and a refusal to be defined by the norms of a patriarchal, white supremacist, and capitalist-imperialist society. We are also well aware that our name, Ovarian Psycos, in itself can be triggering to folks, but we want to reiterate that we believe that a “womyn/woman” is not defined by the identity assigned at birth and we want to apologize if folks have felt excluded from our spaces.
As we work toward liberation we acknowledge that this movement must go hand-in-hand with the liberation of trans* and gender non-conforming people. We recognize the trauma and pain this word has caused womyn and especially trans-folx, and we are challenging ourselves to become better allies to the trans* and gender non-conforming community. In this process we want to work together toward a common goal - smashing patriarchy, which intersectionally means smashing transphobia. We are well aware that as the Ovarian Psycos, we are in a constant state of consciousness building. We believe that everything, including our rhetoric, is in a perpetual state of transformation, motion, development, and change. We are working to reclaim our hxstory, to create our own theories and inclusive spaces. Again, we apologize to those we unintentionally hurt through this process and ask and we ask for patience in our process. )))
