L.A. LAUNCH: "The Hope of Floating Has Carried Us This Far" Celebration

Coffee House Press. Tuesdays At Monk Space, Some Serious Business, Creative Capital, and Skylight Books invite you to join Quintan Ana Wikswo to celebrate the launch of THE HOPE OF FLOATING HAS CARRIED US THIS FAR - a book of short stories and photographs by Quintan Ana Wikswo on Coffee House Press. Doors open at 7:00pm. A live performance at 8:00pm features live performances from the book - narration by actress Amber Benson, with video projection of Wikswo's films from the book, and original music by acclaimed new music composers Veronika Krausas, Arthur Kell, and Jason Francesco Heath. An exhibition of photographs from the book will frame the performance. The performance will be followed by a reception and book signing. Books will be available for sale by Skylight Books. Her works are published, performed, and exhibited internationally; including anthologies; artist books; magazines such as Tin House, Guernica, Conjunctions, Kenyon Review, and Gulf Coast; and in multiple solo museum exhibitions in New York City and Berlin. Thirty-two of her performance works are actively presented onstage, in museum exhibitions, and site-specific installation featuring live narration, video projection, and original scores by prominent composers. A former human rights worker, she now uses salvaged military typewriters and cameras to navigate known, unknown, and occluded worlds, especially obscured sites where crimes against humanity have taken place. She holds fellowships from Creative Capital, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Center for Cultural Innovation, and multiple residencies at Yaddo, including the Pollock-Krasner Residency.
