La Fuente Hollywood Treatment Center has agreed to partner with the Thrive Tribe Foundation to hold a 2 session bi-weekly workshop on redefining your sexual self after addiction. From a young age, gay men feel the pressure of stigma and shame surrounding their sexual desires which often leads many to turn to the abuse of drugs and alcohol. This series will aid those at any stage of the recovery process, empowering them to redefine and reconnect with their sexuality and encourage healthy positive sexual behaviors.
- Week one we will explore reconnecting with your sexual self. Eastern traditions of breathing, oils, and meditations can help and so can chatting with others. Last month no topic was off limits. Get suggesstions from others who know the pull sex and substances have on your life. You also will be added to a secret Facebook Group, if you want, to add your ideas and see what other participants in the course have contributed. This is an ongoing group which can support each other and network.
- Week two you will have practiced techniques for the past 2 weeks. The second session will focus on dating, relationships, and connecting with others. You will learn techniques to stay committed to living a more sober life and still recognizing you are a sexual being.
You are encouraged to partner with a buddy to check in on you during the time between the 2 sessions. This will help you create better habits and be accountable.
Members will asked to sign an agreement committing to the 2 sessions in the series. Not only are both sessions needed to get the full benefit but seats are limited. Group participants will also be sworn to the same anonymity as in AA.
The nominal $20 Registration fee covers both sessions of the workshop. We thank LaFuente Treatment Centers for supporting the additional costs of the program. Their dedication to 360 degree health makes them a perfect ally in the fight to end HIV and stigma.
