Regarding time: the tour itself starts at 7:30. The entrance to the exhibit is across from the museum's main ticket booth. If you're already RSVPed on LACMA's list, please arrive a little early to allow them to check you in (I am not sure exactly what their process for that will be, but I am sure it will be obvious once you arrive). If you are NOT RSVPed and want to try standby, I am told that they will allow a lineup beginning an hour before.

PLEASE NOTE: TO ATTEND THIS TOUR, YOU MUST HAVE RSVPED WITH LACMA VIA THE LINK BELOW. Rsvping on this page does absolutely nothing for you, this page was started simply as a conduit to provide the link to rsvp via LACMA's site. If you didn't rsvp with LACMA and get a confirmation, then you're not rsvped for the event, and the only possible way to be part of it is via standby in case of any no shows (and we have no way of knowing if there will be any). I hope everyone is clear on that, because there are far more people on this page listed as either attending or interested in attending than the event itself can even fit. You HAD to have rsvped with LACMA.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: This event is now standby only, all the regular RSVPs are full. Please check out the link at the bottom of this description, it gives information on standby. Sorry--it's only one group, so yes, it filled quickly.
I wrote a chapter for the book accompnaying LACMA's Guillermo del Toro show, At Home With Monsters, and delighted to say they have asked me to lead a tour group through the show on the evening of August 11. And the best part of this is that it's a FREE event (I will try to make it worth the admission price). The one catch: it's just one group that I'm leading, that's it, and space if filling up fast. If you're interesting sign up asap. Once it fills though, don't despair. There are instructions on their site for standby--let's face it, it's Los Angeles, only half the people who say they are going to show up actually do.
