We hope you can join us for this special screening and panel conversation! We will premiere our first three short films spotlighting significant LGBTQ spaces and civil rights stories, and a special panel conversation will follow. Seating is extremely limited - reserve your spot early!
The films showcase the following locations: The Black Cat (Silver Lake), The Woman’s Building (Chinatown), and Plummer Park, Great Hall/Long Hall (West Hollywood).
We're very pleased to hold the first screening of these new short films at The Black Cat in Silver Lake. This year is the 50th anniversary of one of the earliest known demonstrations in support of LGBTQ civil rights, which took place in February 1967 at The Black Cat.
Immediately following the screening, artist, educator, and activist Cheri Gaulke, urban planner and community activist James Rojas, and LGBTQ civil rights activist Alexei Romanoff will participate in a special panel conversation about their experiences and the importance of preserving LGBTQ historic places.
Registration fee: $5. Proceeds will go towards funding future films highlighting more of L.A.'s LGBTQ historic places.
