LOCATION
L.A. KITCHEN
230 W Ave 26 - use NEW VOLUNTEER ENTRANCE on Ave 25!
Los Angeles, CA 90031
*Please arrive at least 15 mins before your scheduled volunteer time to find parking. Parking is limited and we highly encourage you to go green and take the METRO to save yourself parking stress. The METRO GOLDLINE Lincoln Heights / Cypress Park Station is just a block away from our location. We want to be sure you are ready to start right on time!
PARKING
LAK does not have an official parking structure or lot.
Street parking is available. Please make sure to check all parking signs as L.A. Kitchen is not responsible for parking tickets. There is non-metered street parking available on adjacent streets.
NEW VOLUNTEER ENTRANCE!
We have a brand new volunteer entrance to welcome you into our facility! It will be located just around the back of the L.A. Kitchen main entrance, so if you're going SOUTH on Avenue 26, make a RIGHT on Humboldt Street, and follow the signage on the building.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Our volunteer service events are very popular. If you or your group can no longer attend a service event you've signed up for, please let us know as soon as possible so we may offer your spot to other individuals/groups on the waiting list. Please email your cancellation at engage@lakitchen.org.
Actively reducing food waste while feeding our most vulnerable communities is essential to LAK. The amount of donated fruits and vegetables we bring in for each service event is calculated based on the number of volunteers registered. This ensures that food is efficiently processed into nutritious, wholesome snacks and meals, and delivered to our charitable partners the next day for maximum freshness and nutritional value. Our mission is possible because of volunteers like you committing to your service. We understand that things come up, so it is important that you provide us with timely notification if you can no longer attend. Individuals or Groups who fail to do so may not be eligible to participate in future service events at LAK.
DRESS CODE
Safety is our number one concern. All volunteers must wear appropriate attire suitable for an industrial production kitchen. Due to health regulations, volunteers
who do not follow this dress code will not be allowed to work in the kitchen:
•No shorts or short skirts/dresses
•No tights, spandex, leggings, or pajama pants
•No sleeveless attire
•No shirts with exposed midriff (front or back)
•No high heels or open toed sandals or shoes
•No clothing with printed crude or offensive words or images
•No loose jewelry such as watches, bracelets, dangling earrings, and rings
**Please leave all big purses, bags, personal belongings at home
Non-slip shoes with high-grip soles are strongly recommended. Volunteers will be provided disposable aprons, gloves, and hairnets to wear while working.
Volunteers are welcomed to bring their own caps and aprons to use onsite.
