The Ruby Fruit

The Ruby Fruit, launched by Emily Bielagus and Mara Herbkersman in Silver Lake, marks a revival for lesbian-owned queer bars. They transformed the venue into a space inspired by Rita Mae Brown's "The Rubyfruit Jungle," aiming to welcome a broad spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community, including lesbians, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and trans individuals. Ruby Fruit enhances Los Angeles's array of safe spaces. The owners are dedicated to creating an inclusive, wine-centric ambiance, with bright colors and playful art, aiming for it to be an easygoing spot with a no-reservations and standing-room-only approach. They serve a diverse selection of wines, beers, ciders, non-alcoholic beverages, and light snacks, thereby fostering a communal and inclusive bar culture for a varied clientele.
