The Abbey Food & Bar

(2180 Ratings)
The place to be seen in WeHo

The Abbey is more than just a West Hollywood institution; it’s Elizabeth Taylor’s favorite pub and a cornerstone of LGBTQ+ culture and nightlife, and the inspiration for the hit song, “Pink Pony Club.” Beloved by celebrities, locals, and tourists alike, The Abbey is the perfect place to meet old friends, make new ones, enjoy a generous martini, and indulge in a great time out. Its sister venue, The Chapel at The Abbey, is West Hollywood’s favorite dance lounge, offering a distinct vibe and a perfect place to let loose. It’s been 33 years, but the party is just getting started. Breeders Are Invading!!!

I liked this bar 3 years ago. It's by far the classiest gay bar you'll find in LA, with an occasional celebrity appearance, but the breeders started to take it over about a year ago when it changed ownership. Oh yeah, and ALL the hot bartenders are straight! It's a good place to take your friends from out of town, but if you're looking for good dancing and a gay-old-time there are better places around town.

best people watching around, stiff drinks, and it's fun both as a nightclub but also during the day to sit and have a drink and lunch in the outdoor cafe area.

Probably the most well-known bar in the world, the Abbey has got it all. On the negative side: it's gotten super popular with straight girls, and the food isn't all that good. On the positive side: it's like a big gay playground: eat & drink with friends. check. watch a comedy show. check. mingle. check. cruise. you get the point. Everyone goes here, some complain, but just go with a fun attitude and you'll have a blast.

If you want a cliche gay West Hollywood mediocre bar experience that's going to cost you $50 for a round of drinks, this is the place to go.

The place to be!!

The Abbey. This place is so much fun. It never disappoints. It is the perfect place to bring out of town friends, meet up for a delicious drink, dance the night away, or celebrate an occasion. For me life is about the memories and I've experienced many at the Abbey.
