Art, beautiful landscapes, elegance! All in one place!

Although the Huntington is slightly off the beaten track on the outskirts of LA it is well worth the trip to see it. Former mansion to a well connected family this elegant home serves as an amazing museum. Home to the famous "Boy in Blue" portrait the Huntington has not only top notch paintings it also has incredible landscaping throughout the grounds. Take the tour or have high tea in a relaxing setting but do take the time to visit the botanical gardens. Coming this fall of 2010 the Huntington will host an amazing collection of Renaissance and Baroque sculptures. You won't want to miss this museum.

Stunning

What a stunning place, the chinese and japanese hardens literally transported me to another world. The childrens garden was whimsical and really a place to capture childrens attention. The place is massive in scale and really a good days challenge. Mom is not wheelchair bound but needs a walker, have to say she was a trooper, made it thru about 3/4's of it b4 we called it a day, if she had needed a wheelchair it would not have been easy to maneuver entire place. Much of the gardens require you to get off the paved pathways to experience the beauty so it would have been a challenge. A must visit for any those coming to LA area.

Beautiful and Charming

The Huntington is a lot of things. It's a library, an art museum and a beautiful botanical garden. You can spend hours here, strolling through the gardens and just taking in the lovely quiet ambience of the place. Take a look inside the charming Rose Garden Tea Room, even if you don't treat yourself to the traditional English tea, complete with scones and finger sandwiches and cheeses and petits-fours. The art museum section is small, but has a couple of famous Gainsborough paintings that are worth a look. I've been here 3 times, and my favorite thing to do is just walk through the beautiful gardens--the visit is worth it just for that!
