Since 1962 this Silverlake gem has been serving up delicious Mexican fare in a colorful and welcoming atmosphere. The chips are crunchy and the salsa's just spicy enough to keep you digging for more!
Very Welcoming
I always bring my friends here. The staff are friendly and attentive and you are treated well. It's a great place to take a date. It's quiet so you can have a decent conversation. The bar area is a bit darker than the main dining room and has booths if you would rather eat in there. I've never been disappointed by the food. It's really pretty good.
A great place to visit
I had some friends visit and we drove from Whittier to Silverlake to enjoy the excellent food, the great ambiance and excellent services from staff. Love it! Unique, Charming handled with class. I heard they have entertainment on the bottom floor on Fridays and Saturdays (I will definatley be checking this out in the future). The host "Alex" could have been on the desert menu. Yum Yum.
Why Casita?
I've never understood the allure of Casita del Campo. I find it's among the worst Mexican food in L.A. It's highly overpriced for what you get. Yes it's campy. Yes it's gay. The margaritas are ok, but don't make up for the poor food quality.
Casita Del Campo: Great Ambiance, Food is OK
There is an old school charm at Casita Del Campo located in Silverlake. The decor is strictly Tijuana with velvet paintings and amber lights set against wood grain booths. The place is fun. It used to more fun when they had entertainment in the side room such as Rudy De La Mor, but there is still an air, a festive ambiance that manages to stay afloat here. The worst mistake in a long time was raising the prices. It's simply not worth it. The food has always been a bland stew of traditional Mexican dishes. Nothing particularly shines. And with great irony, the prices of the drinks went up as the glasses got smaller
