Chris Bowen - The past few years in Los Angeles have proven a veritable testing ground for Chris Bowen, whose vinyl-only sets run the gamut from house, disco and techno to virtually any given musical style.
With a flair for camp and a knack for the obscure, Chris began his DJ career by accident almost a decade ago at an impromptu gig inside a bungalow at L.A.'s famed Chateau Marmont. Soon after, he teamed up with L.A. icon Victor Rodriguez and eventually the two went on to to start their first venture in February of 2008—Shits & Giggles in Downtown L.A.
Bears in Space (an homage to NYC radio show "Beats in Space") began the following year at L.A.'s Akbar with Nitedog of Black Disco, and the party still continues as a seasonal event, with Victor Rodriguez coming on-board in 2012.
After the success of the duo's first party, Bowen and Rodriguez jointly began Cub Scout in 2010, a wilderness-themed party hosted by San Francisco's Lady Bear at Eagle L.A. in Silver Lake. Chris has since gone on to share billing with the likes of Andy Butler (Hercules & Love Affair), Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), Dimitri from Paris, Horse Meat Disco, Rayko, Darshan Jesrani (Metro Area), Daniel Wang (Balihu Records), Permanent Vacation, Social Disco Club, Cole Medina, Sleazy McQueen and Tim Sweeney (Beats in Space), to name a few.
Chris currently holds down two additional monthly parties in Los Angeles—Brutus with Mario Diaz at Faultline and Objects in Motion with Chris Cruse at Akbar.
