HOLLYWOOD -- The Hollywood Museum, along with Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell and Christopher Street West, will kick off an annual exhibit that shines the spotlight on the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community in television and film through the decades.
Reel to Real: Portrayals and Perceptions of Gays in Hollywood features photos, costumes, props and iconic imagery from the past and present. The collection provides a unique perspective on how LGBT individuals have been portrayed in Hollywood from early stereotypes to modern representations, as well as celebrate LGBT actors for their contributions.
A special reception for the exhibit will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, 6-8 p.m. at the Hollywood Museum, 1660 Highland Avenue, Los Angeles, 90028. ***Please RSVP by June 6***
The Hollywood Museum’s presentation places the exhibit in the historical context of Hollywood, which is home to a large LGBT entertainment industry population. The exhibit runs through July and coincides with the City’s annual LGBT Heritage Month and Christopher Street West’s LA Pride Week events.
The museum is located in the Historic Max Factor Building at 1660 N. Highland Ave, at Hollywood Blvd., in Hollywood, California. Reel to Real was curated by Donelle Dadigan, Bob Pranga, and Steve Nycklemoe.
