O-Bar Restaurant (Closed Permanently)

(9 Ratings)
Super trendy chic
It can be a bit noisy, but the food is great and the WeHo boys are almost always out in force. Thursday nights are especially popular with the bar night, Smack.

Nice decor and great food

Great restaurant/bar in a perfect West Hollywood location. Obar is one of my favorite places to eat. Happy hour drinks from 6pm - 8pm. A great place to celebrate your birthday.

Thurday is the best

You should have dinner on thursday night at O-bar. They will give you free drink on 11:00 and 11:30 if you show many dollar bill to bartenter.

I had low expectations - THEY WERE NOT MET!

Over the years now, I've heard a good deal about the O Bar, and frankly, a lot of it has not been particularly positive. Recently, while visiting in LA, I finally had an opportunity to visit the restaurant, myself. I've been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years, and many people (customers & staff) have difficulties because they both often have different preceptions & expectations, then are the reality. When visiting a place for the first time, I calm down, and go in with an open mind and an abundance of good will. I don't have any expectations, and I'm prepared to compromise - a bit. Ultimately, if I don't like the place, I can always up and leave. I arrived in plenty of time, checked my reservation - I was treated correctly, efficiently and graciously. Then I went to the bar. The bartenders were equally gracious and efficient, and my drink was fine. (I'd like to say a little bit about this perpetual complaint that things (drinks, etc.) are too expensive - if you go the Beverly Hills Hotel, you'll be charged $18.00 + for a martini, and you'll gladly pay up. If you want cheap drinks, stay at home, and drink out of a bottle). When they were ready for me, I was called, and was escort to my table - nothing that wouldn't happen at any other restaurant in the world. My server was routinely efficient, professional and gracious. The food was as good as you are likely to find anywhere, and I had a wonderful evening. The O Bar's menu is varied, well balanced, and well prepared, and their servers demonstrated no "hautuer". Their desserts, however, are to avoided, lest you want to gain hundreds of calories in a single sitting. In short, I had a delightful time, benefiting from an enthusiastic (if not expert) vocalist/pianist, who was most entertaining, and made the evening. Even when leaving, the manager did it the old fashion way, and went out into the street, and haled me a taxi. I haven't seen that done in a very, long time. I will be Back!!

Excellent food in an upbeat atmosphere

The food at this bar-cum-restaurant is really fantastic. The calamari, beef penne, pork shoulder - we've had many of the dishes and haven't gone wrong yet. The service is hit-or-miss but the ambience is upbeat (in case you've gotta wait a while for your food).
