MJ's (Closed Permanently)

(54 Ratings)
Cruise dance bar with studly crowd
Every night at MJ's may be a different theme, but the dirty fun is always guaranteed. Tuesday's long-running Rim Job is as popular as ever, while Thursday's Middle Eastern night (Club Nur) and Fresh Meat Fridays are stealing away some of the crowd from WeHo.

Great neighborhood bar

Visited on a Saturday night. Clean, open place. A pool table. Good dance music and DJ. One large room off to the side with a few more tables and chairs for sitting and drinking and where the music is a little less loud so you can talk. A little dark on the inside, but the lighting was still good. They had about four dancers (thongs-speedos-underwear) dancing on raised platforms and all were excellent-looking and sexy. They were friendly and talked to me, and were good dancers!! Bar tender was friendly and nice. (An older gentleman who looked outstanding without a shirt.) There was a van out front providing free HIV testing and was giving out free condoms. I recommend this place if you want a simple night out with go-go boys - a neighborhood bar that's not the jam packed mayhem of the clubs on the west end of S.M. Blvd. in WeHo (although there's a time for that, too.) My only gripe is not with the bar (which is well run) but with the clientele. There wasn't any!!!! On a Saturday night at midnight, with dance music, fit, handsome, bulging, dancing men and a great bar - there were fewer than 25 people in the place! Back in my day, this place would have been packed at midnight on a Sat. I worry that this is where things are going for neighborhood gay bars. Everything is moving toward mixed mega dance clubs (like Micky's, Rage and The Abbey). Too many girls in those places, and not the place to meet guys, believe it or not, as they're all there with friends and are looking to dance and drink and not hook up. MJ's is perfect if you want to cruise, play with go-go boys, or just hang out with a few drinks. Let's keep places like MJ's in business!

...

Went last Thursday for Middle Eastern themed night, place was dead. DJ wasn't at the booth at all, so music was horribly slow and boring. After midnight it was only three of us at the bar and dance floor because all other 30 people that came there were smoking hookas outside.

It was pretty cool

ok, i go out a lot and i have been all over from West Hollywood, to pico, downtown and south LA. Once i came across the silverlake crowd, i actually like it better than all the places i have been to, minus Fubar. Mj's reminds me of Fubar in LA, and its a place to go for those that just want to chill, have a good strong drink, and relax with like minded people. i recommended to the guys that like regular guys.
